Alebrijes Workshop

  • Friends Of Myrtle Creek Library 231 NE Division St / PO Box 910 Myrtle Creek, OR, 97457 United States (map)

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, join Friends of Myrtle Creek Library to create your own Alebrije! This is a FREE event and we will provide all the materials.

Alebrijes are brightly colored Mexican folk art sculptures of fantastical creatures, originally created from paper-mâché by artist Pedro Linares in the 1940s. Get ready for some fun making these!

Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15th because it marks the independence anniversary for five Central American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
